"Play transforms knowledge and builds understanding as we create our own words, personas, games, rules, toys, and puzzles - and through them new sciences and new arts." Play in art is very important as the quote above explains that it transforms knowledge and builds understanding. One way that play transformed medicine and art was through Alexander Fleming. Fleming used microbe painting in which he pigminted bacteria producing a pleasing picture. If Fleming did not think out of the box and play with the Penicillium, then he would have never discovered microbe painting. In art, if you go through the process with a narrow mind rather than playing through the process, you are less likely to experience the creation. Play is an important part of not only art education, but in life as well. The work hard, play hard motto is the way to go.
